I think about the woman that I am daily, and how I can be better tomorrow. I have such a wide range of interests and it is important to me to make time and space to accommodate my desires. One of my favorite things to do is volunteer. In Michigan I gave often by way of the gift of touch as a Massage Therapist. I confess that Florida is too hot for me to attempt to recreate that (unless I find a way to air condition the outdoors since no one in Michigan seems to want to send snow to Citrus Countyππ₯Άπ₯΅). Until then, I will spotlight Black Women in Philanthropy: those who give back.
Oprah Winfrey naturally comes to mind, but there are plenty of others. Jessica Newton is a groovy gal I have yet to meet in person but someone I met through Black Girls Hike Global in 2019. Based in Colorado, the organization was rebranded soon after to Vibe Tribe Adventures and obtained non-profit status. Jessica and women like her, like us, see what is missing and seek to fulfill a need: a more diverse outdoors for everyone. Through Black Girls Hike, Urban Trekker, Black 14ers, and The American Adventure Sports Club, the organization does just that. Thank you, Jess!
